Born as a city on the sea to become a city of merchants, Dubai’s association with the maritime industry has stretched across time. Ever since the 7th century, trade routes created by fishermen and pearl divers brought prosperity and development to its shores. Fast forward to modern times and the dredging of the Dubai Creek in 1963 followed by the opening of Mina (Port) Rashid in 1972 by Sheikh Rashid bin Saeed Al Maktoum underlined the central role it played in establishing Dubai and the UAE as a global hub for trade and business.
Ideally placed at the centre of a region with access to over 2 billion people, Dubai Maritime City is well positioned to play key role in shaping the future of the maritime sector for decades to come. Our mission to develop and operate industrial, residential and commercial services that encourage the sector’s growth will help build a legacy for the benefit of future generations. Dubai’s heritage emerged from the sea, Dubai’s future will also.
